Original Fashion Illustration

This is the illustration I'm going to use as a main feature in my surrealist compositions.  I drew this illustration for one of my first projects! The theme of the project was 'Texture' and well...none of us really enjoyed making the theme boards as it wasn't interesting,  but we got to design autumn/winter collection for a 'client' going on holiday. These two were my favourite and most successful designs out of the 10 piece collection.

Surreal Illustrations Project

For the next project, I will be researching surrealist artists for influence and inspiration towards creating several outcomes of fashion illustration's with a surreal twist.

I'm actually looking forward to this project as it would give me some freedom to how much I can edit and change my illustration. I have no doubt that I'm going to find the editing a bit labour intensive and boring but it'll hopefully be worth the effort.

He wasnt recognised for his work until his late 50's when he got recognised and reached some form of fame. He was influential in the transformation of surrealism art and the pop up movement. Most of Rene's work was created my taking everyday objects and rearrange the figures, locations and objects making the view look deeper at what they were looking at.

Final Image

Final Image

This is my final image and representation of Roy Lichtenstein's 'Thinking Of You'.  I found editing this difficult because i have never edited, composed or even used photoshop before in this way. From this project, I have learned a lot from playing around with the tools and filters on photoshop. I like the way I  have enhanced the colour of the skin to make it more tonal and smooth. Maybe in thr future I would redo the photoshoot after learning more techniques and knowledge of photoshop and camera skills.

Photo Shoot

During any photo shoot, there is always one or two minor problems.

Lighting and proportions were my problems.

As the natural light I was using is unreliable for a consistent lighting exposure so i had to take several shots of the same position before the light decides to change making it hard to compose.

Also, getting the right position of the head was difficult as the proportions are not similar when comparing it to the original/reference picture.

Photoshoot Ideas

For our next assignment we were asked to recreate a well known photo/piece, in a modern day interpretation. So I researched into well known masterpieces and I noticed an artist who I have focused on in the past, Roy Lichtenstein.

Roy Lichtenstein created Pop Art pieces, such as;

'Thinking Of You'

'Oh Jeff..'
'Kiss V'

After looking through Roy lichtenstein's work, I could have the most creative ideas from 'Thinking Of You'.  With this I could use any model with blonde hair as it would be a key link to the photograph.

The make up shall be what he used to create the outline, the colour and the tear.

For the background, a possible idea is to use yellow painted cardboard and an animated style cloud. However, another idea is that I could photoshop the background yellow and have the cloud cropped in.

I also had a class discussion about all of our possible outcomes and ideas about this unit. After my presentation, they all preferred the idea of when it comes to creating the image having two separate pictures then photo editing them together would have a better quality and finish.
